How I Set Up A Photoshoot

I have a few different lighting set ups that I alternate between depending on what the aesthetic of the shoot is going to be. This one pictured above is the one most used as it provides a clean light especially when using a white background. (pulling back the black flooring for a body shot is important!)

The light set up includes two large soft boxes stacked on top of each other on the right -hand side. This is the main light source as it covers the whole body. The fill light tends to be a long soft box on the left -hand side. This is especially good when the model is wearing dark clothes. As well as this the fill light adds in texture and tonality into the items of clothing making the image look flat.

Finally, wherever needed a mirrored reflector is used to add in even more extra light if needed on the face for example.

I have stuck to using the Phase One cameras when working in the studio as they provide a very high- quality image. This is also good as it is used in the professional industry so having knowledge on this camera is important. I always go handheld on a shoot as the model is constantly moving around. Sometimes I may even have to be on the floor trying to capture the right shot therefore, a tripod is not necessary for a fashion photoshoot.

After completing all these steps your all good to go!
